Yonas is a child from the first generation and is a real success story. Through his outstanding academic and athletic achievements, he gets the opportunity to graduate at a private international high school. Yonas is also the first from the project to get the opportunity to go to the USA to study.
Most Valuable Player of the Decade (2020)
As member of the LC State Men´s Tennis All-Decade Team, Yonas is named Most Valuable Player of the Decade in 2020.
ITA Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership and Sportsmanship Award (2017)
This award has been presented to student-athletes since 1982. It is a legacy to tennis icon Arthur Ashe Jr. and is awarded in his memory for outstanding academic, athletic and social achievements amongst college tennis players.

All-American (2016)
Yonas is the first Lewis-Clark State men´s tennis player since 2007 to receive an All-American award. This award is given to outstanding young talents who are voted by the media to be the best player of this season in a particular sport.
The most outstanding student of the class (2013)
In his final year at high school (Andinet International School, Addis Ababa), Yonas is awarded the title of The Most Outstanding Student of the class. The reward: A tennis scholarship in the USA. In 2013, Yonas began his studies at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho (USA).
